Erst vor wenigen Monaten hatte sich Radio Jazz Research-Mitglied Oliver Weindling mit John Jack in London für ein Interview getroffen. Entstanden ist eine „Oral history of recorded sound“. Nun ist John Jack im Alter von 84 Jahren verstorben:

JOHN JACK, an important behind-the-scenes figure in jazz in the UK passed away on Thursday 7 September at the age of 84.
Mike Westbrook has written : «John was at the epicentre of all the changes going on….he never faltered in his belief in the music.»
